What is CTR (Click-Through Rate)?

Imagine this:

You’re walking in a candy store, and there are 100 candy jars on the shelf. Each jar has a “Try Me!” sticker.

But guess what? Only 10 people actually open a jar to taste what’s inside.

So out of 100 people, only 10 clicked the jar.

That’s CTR!

CTR (Click-Through Rate) tells us how many people clicked after seeing something (like an ad, a link, or a button).

Simple Definition:

CTR is how often people click on your ad or link after seeing it.

How to Calculate CTR

It’s like a mini math trick:

  • Clicks = How many people clicked
  • Impressions = How many people saw it

Example:

Let’s say 100 people saw your ad, and 7 clicked on it.

CTR = (7 ÷ 100) × 100 = 7%

That means 7 out of 100 people liked your ad enough to click!

How to Increase CTR (Make More People Click!)

Here’s how to make more people open that “candy jar”:

1. Use Tasty Titles

Make your headlines exciting, like:

“Get 50% Off Today Only!”

Catchy = More Clicks.

2. Add Eye Candy

Use bright colours, cool images, or emojis. People love pretty things!

3. Be Clear

Say exactly what they’ll get when they click — no confusion.

4. Target the Right People

Show your message to people who care. Don’t show chocolate ads to people who hate chocolate.

5. Test and Try Again

Try two different ads and see which one works better. That’s called A/B testing.

Why CTR Matters in Digital Marketing

High CTR = Your ad or post is interesting.

Low CTR = People saw it but didn’t care. Uh-oh.

If nobody’s clicking, it means you need to change something.
